In Los Angeles, there is a possibility you may be sentenced to jail for a DUI. However, for first offense misdemeanor DUIs where no one was injured, the likelihood that you will be forced to serve jail time is low. It’s important to note though, that not all counties in Southern California impose the same penalties. Ventura County and Riverside County are known to impose harsher penalties than other counties. In some cases, you may get credit for “time served” based upon the time you were in custody following your arrest.
In the event that you are convicted of misdemeanor or felony DUI which results in the death of another, you will almost certainly face jail or prison time.
